The German Advisory Council on the Environment (SRU) has the remit to assess and report on the environmental situation and the environmental conditions in the Federal Republic of Germany.
The SRU monitors various fields of action in environmental policy, in particular the development of the key conservation resources (e.g. soil, air, water, nature), the main sectors impacting on the environment (e.g. energy, transport, agriculture), and relevant general topics (e.g. sustainability strategies, environment, and the economy).
The following topic pages give an overview of the positions of the SRU, with links to special reports and statements.
Attention: The Council publishes reports and other written statements at regular intervals, at least every two years. Most publications appear in German. The complete overview of the German-language texts can be found here.
