Article on sufficiency published in "GAIA - Ecological Perspectives for Science and Society"

Authors from the German Advisory Council on the Environment have just published an article in GAIA, an academic journal dedicated to inter- and transdisciplinary research on and for sustainability transformations. The article entitled “Sufficiency as a 'Strategy of the Enough': Curbing ecological crises and injustices” is a summary of the council's discussion paper on sufficiency from March 2024. Drawing on sights from various scientific disciplines, the discussion paper made the case for a broad societal discussion about sufficiency. It was widely received in Germany, especially in civil society. The GAIA article in English language makes the key arguments now accessible to a broader international research community. It is open-access and can be downloaded from the GAIA website.
