In early September 2011, SRU published a 600 pages report on “Precautionary Strategies for Managing Nanomaterials” which contains recommendations for a responsible and precautionary development of this new technology. The overall strategic objective for this precautionary approach is to allow for innovation but also to identify and reduce risks at an early stage. The SRU holds the view that the regulation of nanomaterials is in urgent need of reform and calls for more transparency with regard to the use of nanomaterials in consumer products. This especially applies to European chemicals policy. The executive summary and the recommendations of the report are available in English on our website:
Sincerely yours,
Christian Hey
